Phase 2A of the Rosemont les Quartiers project includes 68 rental units, which are added to phase 1 of the project, as well as a care unit with 52 rooms plus related services and common spaces. The care unit is articulated around a vast dining room with lounge areas that serves as the heart of community life for residents and healthcare staff.
To ensure the coherence of this space with the rest of the project, the team used design cues established in phase 1: slatted wall and ceiling, built-in furniture, etc. The color palette was softened, and contrasts reduced to meet the specific needs of cognitively impaired residents. This soft palette, combined with warm wood accents, helps to create a comfortable environment that is closer to a home than a hospital setting. This consideration is especially important as these are often the last living environments for residents.
On top of taking into account the needs of the residents at all stages of the design, our team worked closely with all involved parties to plan and design the work spaces for the caregivers. Notable features include a custom-designed reception desk that comfortably accommodates staff, visitors and residents.
